Salud y Fármacos is an international non-profit organization that promotes access and the appropriate use of pharmaceuticals among the Spanish-speaking population.

Financing

Salud y Fármacos is an independent organization which does not receive any funding from any industry or association related to the production, distribution, or dispensation of medications. Most of the funding is from an individual donor and small private donations. In addition, throughout the years, Salud y Fármacos has received the following awards:

2003-2004. The Borja Institute of Bioethics (Institut Borja de Bioética) provided €40,000 to assist in the production of Boletín Fármacos and the incorporation in Argentina of the Salud y Fármacos Foundation.

2008. The WEMOS Foundation (The Netherlands) provided US$6,000 for the Ethics and Clinical Trials workshop in Argentina, US$3,000 for a workshop at the FioCruz Foundation-Brasilia to explore the viability of an Observatory of Clinical Trials in that country, and US$3,000 to help translating from Spanish to English the book Ethics and Clinical Trials in Latin America (Ética y Ensayos Clínicos en América Latina, Edited by N. Homedes and A. Ugalde, Editorial Lugar, Buenos Aires, 2012).

2008. PAHO-Buenos Aires provided US$600 for the Buenos Aires (Argentina) workshop on Ethics and Clinical Trials.

2009. The WEMOS Foundation and SOMO (The Netherlands) each provided €3,750 for a total of €7,500 to study Contract Research Organizations (CROs) in Argentina and Brazil.

2010. The WEMOS Foundation provided €7,000 for the organization of the Second Latino American workshop on Clinical Trials and Ethics that was conducted in August in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
